How We Got Here
The Problem We Couldn't Ignore
After years in traditional financial planning, we kept seeing the same pattern. People needed help with day-to-day money decisions, not retirement planning they wouldn't touch for decades. So we started small – just helping friends and colleagues figure out their weekly spending.
When Everything Changed
COVID hit and suddenly everyone needed to rethink their budgets. We helped over 200 families restructure their short-term finances during the lockdowns. That's when we realized this wasn't just a side project anymore.
Building Something Bigger
We moved into our current office in Ainslie and brought on our first team members. The focus stayed the same though – practical budgeting help for people who need to make their money work better right now, not in 30 years.

Started marcynovique after getting frustrated with how complicated financial advice had become. Spent 12 years at traditional advisory firms before deciding there had to be a better way to help people with their money. Lives in Canberra with his two kids and still does most of the grocery shopping because he likes seeing how budgets work in practice.
Darren Kelleher
Senior Budget Strategist
Joined us in 2022 after working in banking for eight years. He got tired of pushing products people didn't need and wanted to actually help families make sense of their spending. Darren specializes in working with people who've never had a formal budget before – which turns out to be most of our clients.
